Why Be "Earth Cool"
Earth Cool is making its tracks across America as the force behind distributing rewards to those who recycle and publishing who's not. Think of it as a Naughty-Nice list for Mother Earth.
On a recent trip to Disneyland, we were taken aback to learn that Haagen-Daz had no recycling containers; ironically, the company is launching a major campaign to save the honey bees. While we applaud Haagen-Daz's noble efforts, we wish the spirit of environmental awareness was company wide.
After leaving Disneyland, our next trip was to a Southern California Staples location. We needed some items printed and the copy clerk made a mistake on our order. He chose to let us have the pile of unusable paper anyway and went about his business recopying the book. When we asked where the recycle bin was, we were told reluctantly, "We don't have one!"
For a large company, what hits home the most? Bad press. And while Earth Cool is not trying to give anyone a bad name, we want companies to take the environment seriously. So, if you are visited by an Earth Cool representative and you're not employing basic green practices, well, we're just going to spill the beans.
Be Earth Cool
It's easy. There are lots of ways you can help the environment. Lots of companies are on board and every day new ideas materialize into tangible results. So, you might want to think twice before you head to the trash with whatever is in the can; instead, look for a nearby recycle bin. With the likes citywide recycling programs, and the smart, solar Big Belly compactors, companies who don't make an effort are quickly becoming outnumbered.
